New Hair for Spring/Summer!

I thought I’d write a post about my hair cut. Not very exciting as I am growing my hair, eh? But there has been a minor change to my hair and I am really happy with it.

how short my hair was originally! taken Dec 2010

I have given my hair a break from straightening and heat in general for quite some time, because I found it was getting into some terrible condition, so I’ve just left it wavy for about five weeks now. However when I got to the hairdressers yesterday, my hair looked terrible and straight away, she sat me down and was like, “do you want a treatment?” which I think is code for “oh my God, have a treatment now!!” So I did.

A terrible picture for lighting, but how my hair has been recently.

Because of all the colour abuse I have commited on my hair recently (over the past year, recently, not the past couple of months) alongside the chlorinating of my hair, the front parts of my hair have been breaking and look absolutely disastrous. The very front of my hair has been so wavy, it looks like I’ve had a terrible hair extension job because it’s looked so different from the rest of my head! So I asked the lovely hair dresser to cut in a bit of a fringe, so these fly away bits had some sort of companionship and didn’t look as terrible as they have been.

An hour later and this is how I look, with lovely conditioned hair, no more split ends and no more random broken bits! I am still in shock!

I am really chuffed with how my hair looks now, which is a bit shorter than that picture shows, and I’m even impressed with the colour, which has looked nothing like that over the past couple of months! My hairdresser has recommended that I start using L’Oreal’s Mythic Oil (I have bought this from Buyapowa the other day…) through the ends of my hair and hopefully, it shouldn’t be in a terrible condition when I go back there in six weeks! Not only that, but I received a 10% discount, because I had booked my appointment when I left last time, so a lovely little saving for an excellent result. The next change to my hair will be when I’m a little more tanned and it’ll be going a little bit darker, so my eyes look bluer.

The things we do to look beautiful!

New Year, New Hair

So, the same Sunday I went to see Sherlock Holmes with the fam, I decided to dye my hair. My hairdresser is currently out of action, due to just having a baby and chilling at home with the newborn (although, I don’t think ‘chilling’ is the right word…), so I had to resort to doing it myself. I am really rubbish at self-dying. When I went red, I had to get Jay to do it, for fear that I’d get red stained around the back of my neck, which is not a good look for us with shorter hair. Jay wasn’t around and I was only going a dark brown, so I figured I’d try it all by myself with no supervision.

On a night out, the night after I coloured my hair! Brave, eh?I had used Schwarzkopf Live XXL in Red Passion 43 before and it had worked really well with my hair (cue: picture of me in said red hair the night after I Jay had dyed it for me!), so I thought I’d stick with what I knew and used another Schwarzkopf colour; this time, instead of XXL (is there such thing as XXL in chocolate brown hair??), purchasing Schwarzkopf Live Unlimited Gloss in Tempting Chocolate 880.

The directions were straight forward; mix little pot of number 1, with big pot of number 2. Leave on for half an hour. Rinse off until water runs clear, put in Potion Number 3 for 2 minutes, rinse and enjoy your amazingly chocolate looking hair. During my half an hour wait, I looked in the mirror to see if I’d actually managed to get any colour on my face or ears and saw that my ears were completely covered in brown… and I had no make up wipes. D’oh! So, much to my demise, I left the colour on my ears and prayed that I had enough concealer in case this all went horrifically wrong before my escapade to the cinema!

Voila! Here’s my amazing hair colour for the world and his mates to see :) (taken from my iPhone when we went to see Billy Elliot.)

I am really chuffed with it; I would say the colour on the packet is pretty much the same as what my hair is sporting these days, which is pretty much what any colourant is working towards, right? It didn’t stain my face or ears (or the back of my head, I don’t think…) and it’s a bit of a change from the usual hair colours I choose… You know, the blonde or the red or the lightish brown… And I have had a few people complementing me on how it suits my face a lot better than any of those other colours! Hooray!

I suppose the looming question is whether I will stick this one out for a little more than just a couple of months like I usually do. And I suppose only time will tell, but I am really happy with my January hair colour this year. Have you started this year with a new change to your hair?

Hair and Girly things

Today, I am in an awesome mood. The sun is not shining as much as it has been, I’m in the office on my own (again!) but I am in a really good mood :) I wonder if that will change after WW tonight??

Charlotte had her hair cut last night and I really, really like it. It looks like Kerry Katona’s hair – I know what you’re thinking. Kerry Katona is not nice. But look at her hair in this photo:

That is, when you stop looking at her boobs, you perv!

That’s the thing with short hair – it won’t grow into this over night :( It’s okay, I’m growing it and eventually, I’ll get bored of growing it and cut it short again… Or just buy extensions, whichever’s quicker, really…

I’m thinking of changing my hair colour. I think I’ve outlived the red in my hair – it’s started to fade really quickly. So I am thinking – and prepare yourselves, guys – of going ash blonde. It looks sorta grey, but more blonde. Make sense?

Do you need a picture? Look at this loveliness:

Granted, I do not have this lovely lady’s cheekbones, but my hair style is very much like this one, so if I get it all choppy, then maybe it’ll look pretty :)

P.S. HUGE EARRINGS?! She can keep those…

Things that I’m worried about if I change my hair colour to this.

  1. Looking more grey than blonde. I don’t want to look too old before my time :( I am, afterall, 23 and 11 months. That’s right, I’m holding onto being 23 for as long as I can.
  2. It fading my skin tone out :( I was blonde before and I had to use MUCH bronzer in order to pull it off. And that was a yellow kinda blonde!
  3. My hair turning green when I’m teaching babies to swim. It’s one of those myths, but you still wonder, “Will it happen to me?!”
  4. My eyebrows being too dark. I think I’m going to have to definitely dye them. I don’t know why they’re so black, I don’t have black hair.
  5. It just not suiting me at all. I know it’s only hair and you can dye it back, but still. For those few hours when your hair is not the perfect colour, it sucks.
  6. Roots growing too fast for me to keep up with payments. Although it doesn’t seem to, my hair grows really quickly. I think it’s because it’s short, you notice it more.

Although very emo, I like this look too, but again for long hair:

See how she has roots and it still suits her?!? Mind you, she does look very pale. Means I’ll have to sleep in a coffin and keep away from garlic or holy water. But still! In the name of hair and looking good, I will do such things! Her hair looks in a really dry way, so lots of conditioner to be ordered! I also like her eye make up. Maybe I was meant to be emo?! In fact, looking at all these photos after typing into Google “blonde hair”, I think I’m going to have to change from bronzer to blusher – all these blondies have pink cheeks, not orange brown!

Nicola, my old friend and hairdresser, is coming to do the family’s hair on Saturday. Maybe I’ll consult with her then. She might come out with “OH GOD, NOOOOO!” and run away screaming, or she might be able to actually do it and make me look good. Who knows?!

ANYWAYS. This post is more than just hair. See? “… and Girly things”. I am honestly looking at changing my whole style, but I understand that I should probably do this after I’ve lost all that weight. I’m just wondering what it should be, really. At the moment, I am the girl in the black leggings. Leggings all the time. Leggings. Leggings. LEGGINGS!! They are honestly just really comfortable as I have no idea which of my old jeans fit me and which don’t – and I don’t want to find out! But maybe, I don’t want to be comfortable anymore! MAYBE I just want to look good. All the time. That’s not so much to ask, right?…

The thing is I don’t even know where to start. I am not the most fashionable of people. In fact, I turned up to my Mum’s house the other day and she nearly fainted when she saw me looking almost ‘in fashion’. I need Gok Wan to be my stylist forever. But that is definitely a life sentence. Poor bloke would be stuttering by the time he got through my wardrobe.

Also, changing my style is not cheap. Maybe I should wait for a few months and see how much money I have from my £70 a week budget. It shan’t be hundreds, I’m telling you now. But perhaps I’ll be a hundred lbs lighter by then anyways, and it will (thus and therefore) be time for me to buy a new wardrobe and change my style. I can justify anything.
